What could be more appropriate than a music festival to showcase hot sauces with dance names?
On July 1 and 2, we were at the Macki Music Festival, an independent festival dreamed up by Parisian collectives Cracki Records and La Mamie's. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the event took place in the magnificent setting of the Parc Charles de Gaulle in Carrières-sur-Seine (Yvelines, Ile-de-France).
Music, but not only! We set up our stand in the Macki village, a space dedicated to promoting local artisans, in collaboration with Hot in Here, a collective with the ambitious goal of democratizing chili in France. To support this project, Hot in Here organizes events around chili and is working on publishing the first book about chili in France, told through "the spitters of hot sauces, the producers of chili, those who eat it, those who sell it and those who cook it".
For this event, we created a unique recipe based on habanero pepper, chipotle pepper (dried jalapeno smoked with pecan wood), oregano and garlic. Bottled in 50 mL bottles and decked out in the festival's colors, our "Macki special hot sauce" was available for tasting and sale at our point of sale. The Hot in Here collective also organized a spice roulette (a spinning wheel that allowed participants to win dishes with different intensities of hot pepper) and a tombola, with a chance to win volcanic gifts (a box of hot sauces, a poster of the collective, etc.).
Over 8,000 festival-goers had the opportunity to suffer alongside us or discover our creations. A memorable weekend of encounters and exchanges around hot pepper and music!
